Your privacy is critically important.  I have a few fundamental principles:

  • I don’t ask you for personal information unless I truly need it. (I can’t stand websites that ask you for things like your gender or income level for no apparent reason.)
  • I don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law or to protect my rights.
  • I don’t store personal information on servers unless required for the on-going operation of the website.

Tarheel Boys of Summer’s (TBS) privacy policy incorporates these goals:

Website Visitors

Like most website operators,  TBS collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site and the date and time of each visitor request. The purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how visitors use the website.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to our site choose to interact with us in ways that require TBS to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information gathered depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, TBS asks visitors who sign up for email notifications to provide an email address. In doing so, TBS collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill that purpose. TBS does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

TBS will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.  It will  disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request.

If you opt to receive email notifications and have supplied your email address, TBS will send updates when I post new content on the website. I’ll store the email address for as long as you desire to receive the notifications. You can cancel the notifications at any time.

TBS takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. TBS uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of the website and their  access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using our website, with the drawback that certain features of site may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, TBS may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in my sole discretion. I encourage visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
